Wednesday 31st October, 6 – 8 pm, Emmanuel Home Cafe
A festival of saints, games, fireworks, and hearty drinks and foody treats awaits on All Hallows’ Eve
It’s about this time of year that the nagging begins: ‘why can’t we go trick or treating this year?’ The fact that nobody opens the door, it’s cold, it’s invariably wet, there are vague overtones of associated threat and frankly the UK in October is most definitely not a crisp and clear US Fall where everyone does it, none of this seem to occur to any of our kids. So this year we’re going to change all that nagging into something positive: St James and Emmanuel’s first ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ celebration.
All are welcome, you can be single, married, have kids, not have kids, be old or young. In conjunction with Home Community Cafe we’re going to celebrate the saints in the warm glow of community and engage in such festive fun as apple bobbing, fireworks and wonderful seasonal food and drinks which can be purchased from our partners at Home Cafe. All the games and activities will be free, but bring some pennies for your parkin, pumpkin pie and spiced lattes.
It’s a drop-in style event so you don’t have to come at 6 pm, but you will want to arrive before the fireworks at 7.30 pm. Oh, and feel free to come dressed as your favourite superhero or saint, or not as the case may be. Bring a torch for the treasure hunt and a brolly if it’s wet.
