The new Walker organ means that we can now remove the old organ.
The main working parts have been removed (at no cost to us) by a professional organ builder to be recycled to repair other organs in churches around the north west. The large wooden pipes and the structural timber work remains, together with some high quality finished timber. We will retain the quality wood for projects around the church but the rest is, according to the organ builder, unusable in other instruments.
We need a significant number of able bodied men and women to assist in some refurbishment work and to take the old organ down, removing the old timber. The wood is free to the remover for structural timber or for wood burners.
Proposed dates are Saturday 6 January with a possible follow up session the following day, Sunday 7 January. If necessary, we would like to reconvene the following weekend Saturday 13 January and the afternoon of Sunday 14 January.
This is an ideal opportunity to work off the Christmas pounds and to get some fuel to keep warm in the dark winter months!
Please contact John Janulewski if you can offer some time for this project.
