Raising the Roof: let’s make Emmanuel fit for the future

Together we can ‘raise the roof’ and ensure that Emmanuel church is a community facility serving the whole of Didsbury for the next 100 years.

Emmanuel church has already been at the heart of Didsbury for over 150 years, but it’s now in a state of total disrepair and the roof is literally falling in. Below is a video showing what happened during a recent downpour!

Thankfully, our need has been acknowledged by the Heritage Lottery Fund, who have promised £250K if we can raise £50K to unlock their funding. For this £50K we will get a major roof repair, a new disabled entrance to Emmanuel, repairs to the historic stained-glass windows and a new lighting system inside the church which replaces the costly and inefficient halogen lighting currently used.

How can you help? Well there are loads of ways and we’ll be publishing them here in the weeks ahead. But if you want to help us immediately, then visit the Raising the Roof giving page.

Additionally, as part of this new project we need to conduct a public consultation. There are only nine questions to answer online and the Raising the Roof team would be very grateful if you would take the survey.
