Andy Silver

Director of Worship

Originally from Wales, Andy studied and taught music in Cardiff. He left teaching to attend Capernwray Bible College where he became Musical Director, moving on to Southampton and later to Salford.

Wherever he has worked, he’s enjoyed the combination of using music in the context of worship, encouraging others to develop their skills, and for drawing people into church.

In 2012, he set up PopUK, providing singing projects for primary schools, using the songs to communicate Christian values set to contemporary styles of music. When the pandemic put a stop to in-school projects, he put the resources online free of charge – a help for cash-strapped schools – and he continues to write and produce new songs for the PopUK song bank.

Andy and his wife, Becky, started coming to Emmanuel in 2022 and are thankful to be part of such a welcoming, inclusive fellowship. He became Director of Worship in March 2024.
