Wedding FAQ

Every couple has lots of questions as they plan their wedding. Here are a few common ones.

I’m not baptised, can I still get married in church?
Yes!

I was brought up in the Catholic church, can I get married in the C of E?
Yes!

I’m divorced, can I still get married in church?
It is possible for people to get married after divorce with St James and Emmanuel. Email the Parish Office for more information.

What time in the day do people usually get married?
Most people choose to get married early in the afternoon but there is no hard and fast rule. When considering the time of your service it is worth bearing in mind things such as the distance any guest may need to travel on the wedding day, meal times, daylight for photographs, the timing of your subsequent reception etc. Remember that the time set for your wedding is the time the service begins, not the time the bride arrives at the church!

Is there still room on our preferred date?
The only way to be sure if your preferred date is available is to speak with us. See the Next Steps page for more information.
